Client Education
We believe that the best way to give you the project you desire is through education. We do not merely tell you what you should do; we educate you so that you can make a substantiated decision based on all the facts. We have developed PowerPoint presentations on various construction and design issues that are available throughout the design and selection process for you to take advantage of. These were initially designed to keep our designers and architects informed about the newest and best products on the market, because continuing education is required to maintain our professional licenses. Our new blog site will feature new educational sessions, giving our clients access to the same information, so we can all speak the same language.
Green Building
Green building has taken on a life of its own over the last decade, mainly because of the educated consumer and manufacturers willing to put out new environmentally sensitive products.
Sustainable or “green building” design and construction is the opportunity to use our resources more efficiently while creating healthier and more energy-efficient homes. Although there is no magic formula, success comes in the form a leaving a lighter footprint on the environment through conservation of resources, while at the same time balancing energy-efficient, cost-effective, low-maintenance products to achieve those goals. In other words, green design involves finding the delicate balance between homebuilding and the sustainable environment.
At CDGAI, we realize that green building often impacts the budget and you as the client need to be educated before making those decisions. We are adept at helping you through the maze of decisions that you will need to make concerning green building using both active and passive techniques and by utilizing the latest technologies. Balancing the cost of those products versus their rate of payback often makes some technologies not worth the expense, at least at this point.
Historically, there are a lot of simple design methods that have been forgotten since the advent of air conditioning. By using some common sense approaches during the design phase like maximizing the building orientation for solar gain and prevailing breezes, taking advantage of trees for shading, simple construction techniques and proper building material selections for your climate, you can significantly impact the effectiveness of your project. Often you will find that some creative design solutions often save more money than the higher costing technological products associated with GREEN building.
